A gentle, aluminum-free deodorant that actually works — made with rendered beef tallow and zero baking soda.

Tallow Deodorant is a small-batch natural deodorant designed for everyday wear without irritation. It's made with beef tallow that I render myself, calendula-infused jojoba oil, and real essential oils — no aluminum, no baking soda, no synthetic fragrance, and nothing artificial.

Unscented — for sensitive skin and anyone who can't tolerate essential oils. A gentle note: this version is slightly lighter in odor protection than the scented ones, because the essential oils in lavender and cedarwood add to the odor-fighting strength. Best for sensitive skin, fragrance-free needs, or lower-activity days.

How to use

Scoop a small pea-sized amount with clean fingertips. Apply to clean, dry underarms and massage in until absorbed. Best applied after a shower. A little goes a long way — reapply throughout the day as needed.

Beef tallow (rendered by me) — naturally rich in skin-compatible fatty acids that help nourish and support the skin barrier under your arms.

Calendula-infused jojoba oil — closely mimics the skin's natural oils, with the soothing benefits of calendula.

Beeswax — added for firmness and structure.

Arrowroot powder — gentle, plant-based moisture absorber.

Magnesium hydroxide — natural odor neutralizer that works WITH your skin instead of against it. This is what replaces baking soda.

Essential oils (in lavender and cedarwood versions only) — never synthetic fragrance.

What to expect

Because this product is made with real ingredients and no stabilizers, the texture may vary slightly with temperature. This is normal and does not affect quality.

If you're switching from a conventional aluminum-based deodorant, your body may go through a brief adjustment period — typically 1-2 weeks. Stick with it. It's worth it.

Storage

Store at room temperature and away from direct heat or sunlight. If the deodorant becomes soft, allow it to cool and it will firm back up naturally.

FAQs

Is the unscented as strong as the lavender or cedarwood?

Honest answer: it's slightly lighter. The essential oils in the scented versions add another layer of odor protection on top of the arrowroot and magnesium hydroxide. So the unscented is the gentlest of the three — perfect for sensitive skin, anyone with fragrance sensitivities, or lower-activity wear. If you're a heavy sweater or want maximum protection, the lavender or cedarwood versions will serve you better.

Does it really work without baking soda?

Yes. The combination of arrowroot powder and magnesium hydroxide neutralizes odor without the chemistry burn that baking soda creates. I tested this myself for 6 months through every kind of day before launching.

Is this safe for sensitive skin?

The unscented version is best for sensitive skin or anyone with fragrance sensitivities. The lavender and cedarwood versions use real essential oils (no synthetic fragrance). As with any new skincare, we recommend a small patch test first.

Will this stain my clothes?

The yellow color comes from tallow and calendula — both natural. Some staining can happen if too much is applied. Use a pea-sized amount and let it absorb fully before getting dressed.

Will it work on hot summer days?

Yes — but understand this is a deodorant, not an antiperspirant. It neutralizes odor; it doesn't stop sweat. (Aluminum is what stops sweat, and that's exactly what we're leaving out.)

Why is there an adjustment period?

If you've been using conventional aluminum-based deodorants, your body has been blocking sweat for a long time. When you switch, your body needs about 1-2 weeks to recalibrate. Stick with it — it's worth it.

How often can I use it?

Use daily as needed. Reapply throughout the day for extra protection.

What does it smell like?

Lavender is soft and calming. Cedarwood is warm and woodsy. Unscented has no added scent — just a very subtle, natural earthiness from the tallow and herbs.
