Tallow Talk Tuesday #8 - What's Really In My Soothing Oatmeal Soap

What’s Really in My Oatmeal Tallow Soap (4 Ingredients Explained)

In this Tallow Talk Tuesday, I’m breaking down the four ingredients in my oatmeal tallow soap and why each one is there. Nothing extra. Nothing filler.

Watch the short ingredient breakdown above.

The 4 Ingredients — And Why They Matter

This oatmeal tallow soap is intentionally simple. Each ingredient has a job, and they work together to cleanse without leaving skin feeling tight or stripped.

1) Tallow

Tallow provides skin-friendly fats that help the bar feel gentle and supportive during cleansing.

2) Olive Oil

Olive oil adds a conditioning feel, helping skin feel softer and more comfortable after washing.

3) Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contributes cleansing and lather, but it’s used in a balanced amount so the bar cleans well without feeling harsh.

4) Colloidal Oatmeal

Colloidal oatmeal helps calm and support the skin barrier, allowing skin to feel more comfortable.

Why I Keep It Simple

I used to step out of the shower already feeling dry. My legs used to be scaly, and I thought that was just normal. Once I simplified what I was using and focused on purposeful ingredients, my skin felt noticeably more comfortable.

Soap shouldn’t fight your skin.

Why Ingredient Choice Matters

When soap is made with intention, it doesn’t have to fight the skin to clean it. Understanding what’s in your soap — and why each ingredient is there — helps explain why some soaps leave skin feeling tight while others feel comfortable after washing.

Simple formulations made with purposeful ingredients can make a noticeable difference in how skin feels day to day, especially for those who are sensitive to over-stripping products.
